The United Soybean Board showcase paired <strong>18% reclaimed asphalt pavement<\/strong> with a formulation containing <strong>6% BioMAG\u2122 and 2% SBS<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>BioMAG\u2122 combines <strong>50% SIP-1111\u2122 rejuvenator<\/strong> with <strong>50% biopolymer<\/strong>. The Boone project put that formulation into full-scale hot-mix production while measuring continuous binder grade, \u0394Tc, and Multiple Stress Creep Recovery before modification and after RAP recovery.<\/p>\n<figure>\n    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/soyleitechnologies\/wp-content\/plugins\/soylei-product-surfaces\/assets\/images\/sip-1111-demo-projects\/biomag-boone-ia-2019\/boone-biocentury-aerial.jpg\" alt=\"Aerial view of paving at the BioCentury Research Farm north parking lot near Boone, Iowa.\"><figcaption>Full-scale placement at the BioCentury Research Farm north parking lot.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>A terminal-ready blending sequence<\/h2>\n<p>The Boone team concentrated BioMAG\u2122 with SBS to promote interaction between the materials, then diluted the concentrate to the target formulation. Bituminous Materials blended the liquid binder before delivery to the paving contractor. The project tracking record documents vessel blending at the terminal over three and a half days before shipment.<\/p>\n<p>This production sequence connected soybean-based rejuvenation and polymer chemistry with existing terminal and contractor equipment. The final formulation used <strong>2% SBS<\/strong>; the project case study identified 4\u20135% SBS as the typical range for the reported elastic recovery.<\/p>\n<figure>\n    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/soyleitechnologies\/wp-content\/plugins\/soylei-product-surfaces\/assets\/images\/sip-1111-demo-projects\/biomag-boone-ia-2019\/boone-paving-train.jpg\" alt=\"Paver and roller placing the BioMAG asphalt mixture during the Boone demonstration.\"><figcaption>Paving and compaction of the BioMAG\u2122 demonstration mixture.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>Broader grade range with 2% SBS<\/h2>\n<p>The unmodified 64-24 source binder measured continuous critical temperatures of <strong>66.2\u00b0C and -24.3\u00b0C<\/strong>. After modification with 6% BioMAG\u2122, 2% SBS, and 0.13% sulfur, the binder measured <strong>69.9\u00b0C and -30.5\u00b0C<\/strong>. That expanded the continuous temperature range from <strong>90.5\u00b0C to 100.4\u00b0C<\/strong> while improving both the high- and low-temperature endpoints.<\/p>\n<p>At 58\u00b0C, MSCR recovery increased from <strong>1.21% to 59.63%<\/strong>, while J<sub>nr<\/sub> decreased from <strong>1.45 to 0.4006 kPa<sup>-1<\/sup><\/strong>. The modified binder also recorded 40.61% recovery and 1.1802 kPa<sup>-1<\/sup> J<sub>nr<\/sub> at 64\u00b0C.<\/p>\n<h2>Performance after 18% RAP recovery<\/h2>\n<p>Binder recovered from the 18% RAP mix measured continuous critical temperatures of <strong>71.8\u00b0C and -29.9\u00b0C<\/strong>, a <strong>\u0394Tc of +1.0\u00b0C<\/strong>, and <strong>48.58% MSCR recovery at 58\u00b0C<\/strong>. With only 2% SBS, the BioMAG\u2122 formulation delivered a 100.4\u00b0C continuous grade span before RAP recovery.
